What is IVF solution for?

IVF is a complex process that needs trained embryologists whose job is, among others, to evaluate the viability of a fertilized egg and embryo. It takes up to several hours per day and calls for a punctual labor and concentration. For assigning a quality score of eggs and identifying the one that can be utilized, embryologists go manually through a set of 400 markers. This method is time consuming and not particularly accurate.

Our automated and cognitive human embryo annotation and evaluation system developed for a leading European ART clinic (Assisted Reproduction Treatment) can do it in a few seconds. It shows objective, consistent and easily interpretable clinical data that assist experts to improve IVF results.

Contribution

The embryo evaluation system needs only 45 seconds to deliver results for one patient – in contrast with 1–2 hours required for manual grading. Moreover, it achieves a 91–99 percent precision rate that is better than human (depending on the feature). The solution makes the whole process smoother and faster which helps to decrease emotional stress of patients. It lowers their health risks and saves significant amount of money (thousands of USD per couple).


This system is currently running on our client's premises and was also released as a cloud-based solution. Our team has delivered number of projects in the area of IVF; the applications ranged from embryo selection, stimulation protocol suggestion to never ending search for optimal scoring systems.
